Obituary of Millie VanAbel

Millie M. VanAbel 68, of Park City, Illinois, died on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Kenosha Hospital, surrounded by her family. Millie was born February 15, 1940 in Chicago, grew up in Mason, Wisconsin and came to this area while still in High School in 1956. She retired in 1979 from American International Hospital (now Midwestern Regional Medical Center) in Zion in order to care for her aunt at home. Millie was an avid cook and homemaker. Survivors include her children, David VanAbel of Waukegan, Kathy (Dave) Campbell of Waukegan, Michael VanAbel of Park City and Laurie Breslin also of Park City; nine grandchildren Justin, Joshua, John, Jeremy, Anna, Nathan, Katlyn, Heather and Kenneth; and three brothers, Roy (Belinda) Lahti of St. John, Indiana, John (Sheri) Lahti of Merrill, Wisconsin and Raye (Rose) Lahti of Cable, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by one son, Edward J. VanAbel, Jr; and her parents, Uuno and Mildred (nee Knoke) Lahti. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 18, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Visitation will be Friday, April 18th, from 4:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Memorial donations to American Cancer Society of Lake County has been suggested.
