Obituary of Frank Dunn
Frank R. Dunn, 83, of Gurnee, Il formerly of Zion, IL passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013.
He was born on March 10, 1930 in Highland Park, IL the son of the late Maurice and Lillian (Howe) Dunn. Growing up in North Chicago IL and settling in Zion for 60 years. Frank was preceded in death by his loving and much missed wife, Lois Dunn (nee McManaman) and their infant daughter Marijean Dunn. Frank proudly served his country, first in the National Guard, 44th Division from 1947 until entering active duty in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army, 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1953, which included a tour in Korea. Frank then worked in the Civil Service at Great Lakes from 1953 to 1973. From there, his love of driving truck took him to be an Semi Driver from 1973 to 1979. He then worked for the Lake County Sheriff's department from 1979 to 1989 at which time he retired. Frank enjoyed yard work, wood work and his Green Bay Packers. He was always to be found at Starlite Restaurant with his long time friend Jack Dalton solving the world's problems. He also loved fishing and spending his summers at his second home in Spooner Wi. There, Frank had a host of special friends. Throughout Frank's life he touched many people's lives and hearts with his humor, his stories and a helping hand.
He is survived by his children; Patrick (Cindy) Dunn, Ann (Mark) Watry, Michele Dunn and Nancy (Mike) Seibert. Frank is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, Carrie (Terry) Nottingham, Chad (Cindy) Dunn, Courtney Dunn, Kellie (Aaron) Ratzburg, Kevin (Leah) Lowery, Jessica (Enrique) Albarran, Nicholas (fiance' Shannon Cole) Brady, Andrew Swenson and Cady Seibert. Frank is also survived by 14 Great-Grandchildren; Sister and Brother-in-law Nancy and Frank Vencevich of Russell IL, Gladys and the late John Randall of Salem, Missouri and Brother and Sister-in-law Allan and Pauline Dunn of Mansfield, Texas; many loving nieces, nephews, dear friends and his special little furry companion Zeke.
Memorial visitation will be from 5:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m on Monday, April 1, 2013 at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion with a 10:00a.m. A memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 Wadsworth Road, Beach Park IL.
