I'd like to start with one of the many stories my grandfather shared with us. It goes a little something like..."You kids have it easy... I had to walk uphill with a metal lunchbox for at least 4 miles and I had to walk back home uphill for 4 miles with the same metal lunchbox." Seriously though, my grandfather would captivate many with his stories about war, life, politics, and family.
He and grandma had 4 successful and loving kids. They spent time with and nurtured 8 fabulous grandchildren. They worked opposite shifts to make sure their children were provided for and watched over. I remember my dad taking me to bring grandpa dinner at Camp Logan (I think that's what it was called) because my dad always was proud of grandpa and wanted to spend time with him.
One of my best memories of grandma and grandpa were when they would let me spend the night. They let me watch TV (and keep it on all night) and drink bottles of Pepsi. I remember going to the A&P and turning in all those bottles of Pepsi for a deposit. For me it was fitting that grandpa passed away this week before Easter. Easter was one of the best holidays for the family (for me). Easter baskets were grandma's passion. An enormous basket for each family was a necessity.
I want to thank my grandma and grandpa for my knowledge of religion. Yes, my parents put me though 6 years of Catholic education, but I know that my grandparents fueled that. Grandma and Grandpa took me to church for many years of Saturday mass.
Thank you, Grandpa, for teaching my dad what it meant to be a real man - a hard working man - a man that would do anything for his family. Thank you for accepting me into your family even though I wasn't your blood when my dad was young and needed your support.
I know you and Grandma are together now and you are both happy. I pray that you look over us and bless my two boys everyday. Kiss Grandma for me (Take a pack of gum up there for her.) I love you! Rest In Peace.

Though I didn't personally know Mr Dunn, I wanted to offer my heartfelt condolences to the family and share a few Bible text that helped me when I lost someone dear to me. John 5:28, 29 "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out!" Revelations 21:3,4 "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: 'Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.'" You will be in my prayers.
