Obituary of Alice Crouthers
Alice F. Crouthers, 99, of Beach Park and formerly of Waukegan, died on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Terrace Nursing Home in Waukegan.
Alice was born March 7, 1908 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. During World War II she served as a Nurses Aide at Great Lakes Hospital and she worked for years at Green Mill Cleaners in Waukegan. In the late 1920's, she was the honored recipient of the Miss North Chicago title. Alice was an avid gardner who dedicated her life to her family and friends.
Survivors include her son Richard (Rosemary) Crouthers of Beach Park; grandson Richard (Berni) Crouthers of Beach Park; Gary (Archie) Hammock of Beach Park who was like a grandson; Jessica Gross, Weston Gross, Colton Luth and Rachellyn Luth who are like great-grandchildren to her; and dear friends Ellen Irene Gross and Brenda Ellen Gross.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Richard "Dick" Crouthers; grandson Bob Crouthers; William Ralph Gross who was like a grandson; and two sisters Ann Gaede and Frances Worack.
Visitation will be Monday, November 26, 2007, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Gerardy officiating, with cremation to follow and private burial later at Northshore Garden of Memories in North Chicago.
