Obituary of John Newborn

John W. Newborn,72, died on Monday, February 19, 2007, at Vista Medical Center East, Waukegan. John was born October 13, 1934, in Alcorn County, MS, and married Sally King on June 16, 1956, in Waukegan. He was a 40 year member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in North Chicago. John served in the United States Army from 1957-1959 and retired from the V.A. Medical Center in North Chicago in 1991 after 37 years of employment. After that he was employed by Pace Transportation for 10 years. John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved sports and reading and gardening. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sally; sons, Glenn Newborn and Lynn Newborn, both of Winthrop Harbor, IL, John Paul (Trish) Newborn of Milwaukee, WI; daughter, Sally Deanne (Robert) Kight of Zion, IL; grandchildren, Beth and Jeanne Newborn, Ryan, Maureen, Jacob, and Joshua Newborn, and Alexis, Naomi, and Lilyan Kight; brother, Wayne (Bivian) Newborn of Corinth, MS; sister, Charlene Mills of Golden, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rex Junior Newborn; sister, Maurine Newborn; brother-in-law, Jeffrey Mills; and his parents, Ralph and Willard Newborn. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 23, 2007, at 10:30 a.m., at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with Pastor Dennis Cress officiating. Interment will follow at Willow Lawn Memorial Park, Mundelein. Visitation will be Thursday, February 22, 2007, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
