Obituary of Gloria Turkington

Gloria Priscilla Turkington (nee Hangebrauck), 66, of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, died on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at home with her family at her side and following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 29, 1940 in Waukegan. She was employed at Whiteside Drapery Factory in Zion for 42 years. Gloria was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was always helping others. She was also an avid gardner and loved her flowers. Survivors include her children Nadine (Ray) Heilmann of Zion and Curtis Turkington of Winthrop Harbor; step-daughter Sharon (Dave) Johns of Tampa, Florida; two grandchildren Nicole Heilmann of Tampa and Jennifer (Jeff) Dempski of Zion; two great-grandchildren Tyler Ethan Dempski and Lillian Grace Dempski; one brother Edward Hangebrauck of Kenosha, Wisconsin; one step-brother Chuck Waters of Florida; and one step-sister Linda Torres of Waukegan. She was preceded in death by her husband George Turkington; her daughter Nina Jane Turner; siblings Lorraine Dobson, Marianne Olcott, Rita Wurtzinger, Richard Hangebrauck, Henry Hangebrauck Jr. and Ronald Hangebrauck; her step-brother John Waters; her step-mother Nettie Hangebrauck; and her parents Henry and Myrtle (nee Johnson) Hangebrauck. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 20, 2007, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home.Memorial donations to Catholic Charities have been suggested.
