Wendy, you and your family have my deepest sympathies. I have nothing but fond memories of Master Chief McCloskey. He not only represented the Navy with honor and distinction, but he was a man of integrity who always set the example for others to emulate. I had the honor of serving under him in VP-90 at NAS Glenview and I honestly believe if he were not on the chief's board in 1989 I would not have made Chief Petty Officer myself. He will be missed not only by you and your family, but by all who knew him while he was in the Navy.

I wish to pass along my deepest condolences to the family of Master Chief McCloskey. I was a member of VP-60 from 1984-1991 as both a selected reservist and TAR, where he was our Command Master Chief. I really got to know Master Chief when I became a TAR in May of 1988 at VP-60. He asked me to assist him with his Boy Scout Troop, of which he was Troop Leader, on a week long canoe trip down the Fox River to the Chain of Lakes state park. If memory serves me, we began near Appleton, WI, and canoed / forded our way south over 70 miles in 5 days. It was a great time, some great kids, with and a great friend.
Respectfully,
Neil Shoemaker
