Obituary of Jean Molidor

Jean Ruth (Stites) Molidor, (loving mother, grandmother and Gigi), age 90, Zion, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family and caregivers.

She was born on October 21, 1931, in Westerly, Rhode Island.  Jean met the love of her life Richard Molidor while he was stationed in Rhode Island.  They were married on September 10, 1949 and spent 61 wonderful years together. Throughout the years, Jean worked for an accounting firm and assisted her husband in their family businesses which included a gas station, bowling alley, laundromats, and rental property. Jean enjoyed bowling, golfing and volleyball. She was a member of the American Field Service Club opening her home to many foreign exchange students from around the world, including June Smyth from South Africa and Randi Bolstad from Norway. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; attending their basketball, football, baseball, volleyball, soccer games, badminton matches, baton twirling competitions and performances; going on cruises and traveling with family and friends; watching game shows; and eating out at N & T’s Restaurant. 
   
Survivors include her daughters, Laura (Carl) Spaeth and Sandy (Mark) Ruckebeil, both of Zion; grandchildren, Karl (Megan) Spaeth, Kristi (Matthew) Karner, Zachary (Jessica) Ruckebeil, Brett Ruckebeil, Kaitlin (Chris) Kincaid, and Reid Ruckebeil; great-grandchildren Alexa and Adalynn Spaeth, Jameson and Logan Karner, Ryder and Mckenzie Ruckebeil, Camden and Carter Kincaid along with many dear friends, including her best friend Eva McElmurry and her cat Kitty Kitty.  

She was preceded in death by her parents Orville and Ruth Stites and her husband Richard Molidor.  

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday October 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. All to be held at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL 60099. Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. 

The family would like to thank caregivers Joy and Maria for the loving care and support they provided during the past year.
