Obituary of Forrest Williams Jr
Forrest "Ace" Williams Jr. 93, of Zion,IL passed away Saturday July 10th, 2021. He was born July 19th, 1927 in Prescott, IA.
Forrest attended Zion Benton Township High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in May of 1945. He served in WWII in the south Pacific aboard several ships and was honorably discharged in 1948. He was proud to have participated in a Honor Flight to Washington DC with his grandson, Marc Mitchell, in August 2019. In 1950 he married Lenore, spending 70 years together until her recent passing in May of this year. Ace was a driver for REA Express for 20 years and then owned and operated Williams' Mobil Service Station on Sheridan Road in Zion until his retirement. Ace enjoyed participating in many sports, such as bowling, basketball and golf, but he was best known for his involvement in softball. He was an excellent pitcher and coach and lead many area teams to championships. Ace was also a first class card player and spent many hours playing with friends. He especially enjoyed cribbage.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Dr. Georgia) Williams Sr., grandsons, Michael Williams Jr. and Marc (Kayla) Mitchell.
Great grandchildren, Kyle and Renee Williams. Niece, Denice (Dan) Bethel and nephew, Bradley (Barb) Williams.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lenore, his daughter, Debra Mitchell and his brother Glenn Eugene Williams.
There will be a memorial visitation on Friday, July 30th, 2021 from 5 to 7 pm at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL
