I composed a long tribute to Ace and his Family. Just as I hit send, the internet went out. Here's the short version;
We all loved and respected Ace, Lenore, and his Family.
Great friends to us all. From his Iconic Service station, to all those who knew Ace, we have lost a great Man!
And thanks again for your Service during WWII.
Ed Pryor, Friend and neighbor.

Mike and Family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss of "Ace". I like so many softball players around Lake County and the Midwest. I have a little coaching story from Ace. It took place in the early 70s. We were practicing in Zion, In those days Ace was not big on practicing, he had enough years of it already in his life. In those days you could get a lead on pitchers, I'm batting, and Ace says, guys if you want to be good, you gotta move runners. He looks at me and says Ritt can you hit the ball to the right side,behind the runner, I said sure, he wasn't sure if I could. I wasn't a home run guy, so I figured, this is good for me. That was it for me, as most who played with me, I never pulled another ball ever, I only pulled a couple of balls in the rest of my career,only if I wanted to get out frustration. Anyway Thanks, Ace for the tongue lashings,and the praise once in a while. Thanks for raising us all on the sport of softball. R.I.P. Ace
