Zelma was an amazing lady unlike any other. She was the epitome of dignity and grace. She was so loving to my family after grandma Bernadine passed. She filled a void that I thought was impossible to fill. She brought life back to grandpa and their home in North Platte. She always sent Birthday cards to us. I loved that she wrote Master Jarrod on my sons card. She radiated light and love. It saddens my heart to the core to know her laughter has left this earth. I will miss her and her soft voice with the Australian accent. I am lucky to have her rooting for and guiding me from the other side. I am sure they all are having a great time at the reunion playing cards and rolling dice. I am extremely blessed to be able to call her my GrandZelMom. I love you and miss you sweet girl.

To the Horne Family, I'm deeply saddened to hear of Zelma's passing. I was fortunate to have worked with her at the Waukegan Police Department. Zelma was a true professional and cared about the safety of her Boys/Girls working the streets. She was also "Mrs.Horne" to us as we all truly loved and respected her.....Rest in Peace Mrs.Horne.....Ed Davis

Although it is the saddest time, I reflect on how lucky we all were to have Aunty Zelma in our lives. Having the opportunity to see Aunty Zelma recently on our visit to the USA was with no doubt the most treasured part of our trip. Being warmly welcomed by her and my cousins shows what a kind, considerate loving person she was and how her attitude and values are instilled into her wonderful family.
Robin, Philip, Patrick, Trevor and Daphne celebrate her life and although she is gone, her love for you and all your families remains, and always will. Your mother lives on within your hearts.
Love and prayers
Zelma and Peter

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a wonderful and amazing woman who gave so much of herself to her family and friends. Although Aunty Zelma moved to the USA at a young age where she lived most of her life raising a beautiful family, her roots in Australia are not forgotten. Her family here in Australia has always felt very close to her. Her love and kindness touched the hearts of many. Her kind nature and wonderful sense of humour attracted love. She brought 6 beautiful children into the world and has left a legacy of a wonderful family of loving children, grand-children, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. All of who, will miss her greatly. All of who, I am sure, have inherited some of her wonderful attributes. I am truly grateful for having her in my life. She has taught us the value of family, to love unconditionally, and to be kind to everyone. She will forever be in our hearts.
Thinking of you and sending my love to all the family. Jean

I had the pleasure of working with Zelma at The Waukegan Police Department many years ago. She is one of the nicest people I have ever met or worked with. I am sorry for your loss of such a wonderful Lady.
