Growing up I always enjoyed going to the "city" (since it was not rural) to visit Grandma and Grandpa for holiday events and a week long stay in the summer. Grandma and Grandpa always took us to do nice things like spending the afternoon on the Lake Michigan beach or a long weekend up in Wisconsin. Holidays were also fun, filled with food and laughter. Grandma and Grandpa always made it exciting, unfortunately, I usually could only wonder what was so funny from the "kid" table in the other room.
Grandma, I will miss you. I am very thankful for all the happy memories.
Love, Andrew

Mrs. Hughes' laugh will always be in my memory. For years, she (and Mr. Hughes) were in a club with my Mom (and Dad) and several other couples. The club alternated houses for its monthly meeting - it was mostly a time to just get together, chat, catch up, share family info, and eat. Kids were not allowed, so I was always banished to my bedroom. But I will always remember Mrs. Hughes very distinctive laugh whenever something funny was shared at the meetings - it always made me smile and I will always remember it fondly.
