Obituary of George N.J. Lux
George N.J. Lux, age 76, of Wadsworth, died on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 surrounded by his family. He shared 48 years of marriage with his loving wife Barbara (Deacon). He is survived by his children Elizabeth (Craig) Mann, Christopher (Maria) Lux, Alyssa (Rob) Parrott, Matthew (Carrie) Lux and many grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Patricia DiMarzio and Nancy McPherson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
George was a proud 50 year member of the Operating Engineer Local 150. His callused hands moved heavy machines, as well as tenderly sowed seeds in his beloved garden. He always generously shared his crops with friends and neighbors. George and Barb navigated their RV from Alaska to Mexico and everywhere in between with their beloved cockers along for the ride. They wintered in Donna, Texas for 15 years, gaining many long distance friends from all over the continent.
George was a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Humility Church. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War as a communication and rifle specialist.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Heidi Palmieri, and his parents George E. Lux Sr., and Anastasia (Kliora) Lux.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. A second visitation will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W Wadsworth Rd, Zion, IL. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. In lieu of flowers, donations to Our Lady of Humility Church Bereavement Committee or the Cherished Cockers Rescue, c/o Christine Bacon 8216 Rushton Drive, Mentor, OH 44060 have been suggested.
