Obituary of John Samuelian

John Samuelian, 88, of Zion, IL died July 19, 2017 at home with his family by his side.

John was born April 13, 1929 in Racine, WI. He was an officer on the Zion Police Department for 27 years and Lake County Sheriff’s Department for 18 years. After retiring as a police officer, he worked as a security guard at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion, IL. He was a member of the Zion Shriners, coached little league baseball and was a mentor to the community.

Survivors include his wife, Norma; step-daughter, Wendy Belsterling; nieces and nephew, Patricia Reynolds, Margaret Sanzone, and Gerald Samuelian; grandchildren, Dennis, John Henry, Shelly, and Angie Holden, Jamie Watkins and Jacob Belsterling; and 11 great-grandchildren.  

Preceded in death by his parents, Herpsime Haronian-Samuelian and Onan Samuelian; and brothers, Hutch and Samuel Samuelian.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Friends may greet the family from 4:00 until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family would be greatly appreciated.
