John Samuelian was my biggest encourager as a young baseball player. Although I did not play on his team he encouraged me and even had me play with his team against a team from another city at the end of the year. I never really had a chance to thank him. I have lived away from Zion for years and didn't know anything about John's whereabouts. I just happened to look at this sight today. This man was trying to get me to follow through on what was likely my best sport but unfortunately I didn't listen. He knew what he was talking about and was so kind in how he spoke to me about it. I am so sorry for the loss of this wonderful man!
So sorry to hear of John's passing. I knew John when he was a member of the Zion Police Department. He was a wonderful, helpful, and caring man and a wonderful representative of the police department. Will be sadly missed...

On behalf of the 19th Judicial Circuit, I extend our deepest sympathy to John's family and friends. John served us as a court security officer for many years and was always remembered fondly by judges and lawyers alike. We are grateful for his service and kindness.

I enjoyed working with John at Lake County Court House in Court Security. John had a fine and long police/security career. He often shared some of his memorable experiences, and I always enjoyed hearing about them. Good Memories of a Good Guy.
I will never forget you John. Thanks for being a part of my life as coach of our little league team. You were a great mentor. You helped shape my life. I will hopefully see you again someday. May God be with you and your family in their time of need.
