Dave, Doug, and all the Bradkes,Joyces, etc. I have known your family for over 40 years. We all grew up together and the greatest of times and shared the worst of times. We shared the same uncle, but never did I think we weren't related. Dennis, God must have needed another angel and now you can look over your family from above. Know you were loved and watch over the rest of us you left behind...in body only, never in spirit. Miss you cuz. Mickey, Mike, Lisa and Hannah

Wuorenma Family - I am so sorry for your loss and that I had to miss the services for Dennis. I will never forget his sense of humor (much of which was forcefully given to him by his beloved Uncle Fritz) and his smile. I know that he and Fritz are in heaven riding their bikes, playing softball and watching over us all. Taken much too soon. Till we meet again Denny...

I knew Dennis from grade school through high school. He always had time for you and would make you laugh. I had the pleasure of working with him during high school at Pizza House. We always had fun while working. He kept in touch with us at the pizza shop all these years. Dennis had a kind heart and I will always consider him a good friend. You will be missed.

Dennis was one of the first coaches to ever light a spark in me when it came to knowing what I'm worth and what I will one day be able to do on the Goalball court. You were an amazing coach as well as a spectacular friend. Your spirit will never be forgotten and I hope to one day do something worthy of making you proud. You were taken too soon, and times will be tough for your family, but we are all here for them. Thanks for everything you've done Dennis, I'll miss you.

I was one of Dennis's goalball players with the GLASA Riptide based out of the northern suburbs of Illinois.
I have stopped playing the sport recently, but in high school I had very much success that I owe primarily to Dennis. While teaching me many of the needed skills to succeed in the sport of goalball, he also taught me many other life lessons: self confidence, positivity through adversity and he resilience. Through my goalball career I had some rough times, and even when Dennis had absolutely nothing to gain, he always looked out for me.
If I could say anything to Dennis, I would say thank you for everything for myself, and my fellow players who played with you. Finally, I want to wish Dennis's kids good luck as I know this is a trying time.

Although words can never bring back Dennis, but the MEMORIES that we all have of him will forever be imbedded in our hearts and minds forever. Thanks for those great talks we had while you sat and watched me have fun doing perimeter security at the location for the Zion fireworks. Thanks for bringing a smile to my face when I needed a laugh...your jokes were fantastic whether they were clean or not-so clean. You are loved and missed by many.

Dennis,
You weren't just a coach to me. You were also a motivator, a laugh when needed, a teacher of the game, passionate about what you believed in, genuine, and you always made the best of every situation. You made me better for knowing you. I will surely take everything you've taught me and put it to good use in every day life. Thank you for everything. You're a phenomenal human being. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Dennis gave so much of his very short time with us touching the lives of many people with visual impairments. As a teacher, coach, motivator, and sports official, part of his legacy will be in the gifts he gave to others through his message that self-motivation, team work and fair play seasoned with a good laugh are the elements of a rich, full life. Although brief, Dennis lived a rich, full life. We cannot begin thank him enough for what he shared with us and members of our organization. Our deepest condolences Dennis’ family in this time of loss. Truly he will be missed.

So many stories could be written about Dennis. Which one do you choose? When he was very young and the ring bearer at his Uncle Ron & Aunt Debbie's wedding he decided he was getting board during the ceremony. So he very nicely turned towards me and tugging on my dress asked to be picked up. We were in the wedding together and I remember looking down at him with a smile and saying it would be over soon and then I would pick him up and hold him.
Another incident when his Mom and Dad were going away for a weekend and they weren't gone five minutes, when Dennis decided he wanted an ice cube. Of course he took the biggest one out of the bin and then proceeded to choke on it. His brothers were a little panicky, David called Grandpa Bradke and by the time he reached the house, the ice started to melt and I gave him a little water to help it melt a little faster, when it finally came out. Like these two small stories there are many others that many folks could tell and we would be laughing for a very long time. It is so hard to believe that the last day I spoke to Dennis was the day of his heart attack and he actually told me a "clean joke". We laughed about that, talked a little more and we ended the call with me telling him I loved him as I always did and he responded in his usual way he loved me too and we said goodbye. Little did I know just how final that goodbye would be, but it was one that he actually heard. Dennis I will miss you terribly, but I know you are in a much better place. Today I would guess you are probably sitting on a "Comedy Cloud" having the time of your life. xoxo
