Obituary of Shirley Jean Stare

Shirley Jean Stare, 80, of Zion, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 27, 2016 at home with her children by her side. Shirley was born February 24, 1936, she graduated from Bethany Nazarene University and taught for 28 years in Zion Elementary Schools. She is still fondly remembered by the students and parents whose lives she touched. Shirley was the children’s ministry director, a Sunday School teacher and long-time member of Lakeview Church in Zion. She enjoyed knitting, card making and ceramics. Shirley also enjoyed listening to Moody Radio, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her sons Raymond ( Dawn) Stare and Rodney (Christine) Stare; grandchildren Ryan, Marissa, Carlie, Paige, Jason, and Jessica; 2 great-grandchildren; and sisters Helen (Don) Sanders, and Harriett (Glen) McGuire. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter; son Ronald; and her parents. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Lakeview Church, 1821 Sheridan Road, Zion, with Pastor Les Martin officiating. Visitation will take place on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Lakeview Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to either Lakeview Church or Moody Radio have been suggested.
