Obituary of Harold Thomsen

Harold M. Thomsen, 89, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, died on Monday, August 20, 2012, at home. Harold was born May 22, 1923, in Chicago, IL, and served with the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Winthrop Harbor VFW. He had been employed by WTC Air Freight. His hobbies included fishing and bowling and he was an excellent wood carver. Survivors include his wife, Christine; children, Florence, Carolyn, Edythe, Roger, Barbara, Sharon, Ernie, and David; grandchildren; Ann, Ed, Millie, Dawn, Jimmy, Sherida, Leah, Linda, Kenny, John, Billy, Richard, Mary, Chris, Jacob, Matthew, Mike, Jeff, Christal, Francis, Robert, Allen, Patty, and Julia; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other family. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, James and Anea Thomsen; brothers, Gilbert, Leroy and Allen; and sisters, Lucille, Pearl, Virginia, and Muriel. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Entombment with military honors will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home
