Obituary of Esther Jean Poulsen

Esther Jean Poulsen, 86, of Zion, IL passed on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. She was born February 6, 1928 in Conklin, MI. Esther retired from the Zion Public Library District. She was an active lifelong member at Christ Community Church. Esther enjoyed spending time with close friends, and would help them in any way that she could. As everyone knows, when Esther’s train approached your station, whether she hopped off or you hop on life's journey was going to be enjoyed. Esther is survived by her children, Irene Poulsen of Baltimore MD and Tim Poulsen of Beach Park, IL; grandchildren, Nicole Poulsen of Greenfield WI and Eric (Angela) Poulsen of Kenosha WI​; great-grandchildren, Eliana and Eli Poulsen; sister-in-law, Bernadine Allen of Seminole FL; nephew, Brian Larson of Carlisle MA; three nieces, Kathy Allen, Carol Allen of Grayslake IL, Lisa (Paul) Neiweem of Gurnee IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Poulsen; parents, Claude and Hazel Bishop; and sister Inez Larson. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, IL. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be private for the family at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Camp Zion would greatly be appreciated.
