Obituary of Flavous Kidd

Flavous "Slim" 88, of Beach Park, IL, died on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Pavilion of Waukegan. Flavous was born April 9, 1922 in Prentiss County, MS and moved to Lake County in 1953 where he was a member since 1956 of IBEW Local #150, He served his country during World War II with the Army 88th Infantry Division in Italy. He was a member of Lake County Memorial Chapter 16 Disabled American Vets. Flavous was Past Master of North Chicago Masonic Lodge # 1095 A.F. & A.M. and currently belonged to Waukegan Masonic Lodge #78 A.F. & A.M. He started the Masonic Service Assoc. Volunteers at North Chicago V.A. Hospital in 1982 and was Past Patron of Waukegan Chapter Order Of Eastern Star #209. Flavous was also the last living founder of the Zion-Benton Alano Club. He was a devoted golf nut at Zion's Shiloh Park Golf Course and most of all he enjoyed helping people. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Frances Willene Kidd; children, Sarah A. Olnhausen of Twin Lakes, WI, Patricia (Bill) Kidd-Butkus of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Shirley J. (Joe) Rasso of Salt Lake City, UT, and Linda G. (George) Gunman also of Salt Lake City, UT; a step-brother, Jimmy Wilson of MS; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren: and a nephew and many nieces. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Charlotte Turner; his son, Jack Kidd; one grandson, Ryan Fogarty; one brother, Charles Kidd; and two siters, Jurl Talone and Bea Moore. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at 4:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL, with Dr. Ronald Greene and Rev. Jonathan Singleton officiating. Visitation will follow the funeral service until 7:00 p.m. where Masonic Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Please omit flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Waukegan Masonic Lodge # 78 for Masonic charities in his name have been suggested.
