Obituary of Eric Hortin

Eric John Hortin, 60,of Zion, IL, died on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. Eric was born on September 24, 1949, in Poplar Bluff, MO. He graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 1967 and Rockford College in 1971 with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. Eric was an avid follower of all Zion High School sporting events and Cubs baseball. He enjoyed umpiring and commenting on the officiating at sporting events. He was a former member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Zion. Eric is survived by a sister, Janet (John)Geneczko of West Lafayette, IN, brother, Glen ( Carol) Hortin of Cincinnati, OH, and nieces and nephews: Charles, Andrew, Michelle, Chad, and Scott. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ross and Sylvia Hortin. A private memorial service will be held Saturday, May 15.
