My heartfelt sympathies to all of Eric's friends and families. Eric was a great friend of mine from sixth grade at West Elementary in Zion through college. After college, we met only a few times, but our connection was strong. Eric was a brilliant student. I will cherish my memories of him.

A Poem in memory of Eric My big brother was always elusive, Fixated on sports, Obsessed with batting averages And ERAs. Ears and eyes trained on the games. Baseball his love, only spouse. Eric spent life on the sidelines watching, waiting, and wishing To be part of the game. he searched those innings for safety And meaning.

Janet -- I never penetrated through Eric's caution as an adult. He stood off, away from family and friends. He was proud of what he had done in life, but those accomplishments seemed to end with college. Afterwards, it was all observing sports. In life, nothing was perfect enough, clean enough, for him to participate in. Given his brilliance and his talents, we lost, he lost, the world lost. There is nothing we can do other than remember him when he was still connected to us.
