Obituary of Kathleen LaBelle

Kathleen A. LaBelle, 83, of Zion, Illinois, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Rolling Hills Manor Nursing Home in Zion. She was born June 24, 1926 in Zion. Kathy loved Jesus and let God's love flow through her to others. She embraced life with thankfulness and joy. She was a lifelong member of Christ Community Church of Zion where she taught Sunday School, was active in Women's Christian Service and the Zion Passion Play, and was always eager to serve the Church in any capacity. Kathy also organized a neighborhood Bible Club for Children in her home. She was also a member of Illinois Dunesland Garden Club, Zion Women's Club and worked as a legal secretary for her husband "Kip" for many years. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Clifford "Kip" LaBelle; children, Janet Ashley (John) Spencer of Morton Grove, Illinois, Jim (Jan) LaBelle of Zion, Dr. Len (Stacy) LaBelle of Wheaton, Illinois, and Anne (Rob) Green of Huntley, Illinois; sixteen grandchildren, Thad (Courtney) Ashley, Ryan Ashley, John (Dr. Cathy Marcell) LaBelle, Joe (Andrea) LaBelle, Jay LaBelle, Jeff (Fiancee Dale Darnell) LaBelle, Jack LaBelle, Michael (Renata) LaBelle, Marianne LaBelle, Mark LaBelle, Tommy LaBelle, Suzie LaBelle, Rosie LaBelle, Jayne LaBelle, John LaBelle, and Noah Green; her sister-in-law, Alene Zweizig; brother-in-law, Dr. Harrison Visscher; brothers-in-law, Vic (Irene) LaBelle and Don (Pat) LaBelle; sister-in-law, Lorene Palmer; and nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by one brother, Rod Zweizig; one sister, Mary Visscher; and her parents, Harold and Ethel Zweizig. Visitation will be Sunday, March 14, 2010, from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Church with Pastor Ken Langley officiating. Private interment will be later at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Christ Community Church have been suggested.
