Obituary of Gloria Plummer

Gloria Ruth Plummer Surrounded by family, Gloria Ruth (nee Schott) Plummer died on Monday, November 16, 2009 from congestive heart failure in Lindenhurst, IL at the age of 87 years old. At the time of her death, she resided at Victory Lakes in Lindenhurst, IL. She was born on February 25, 1922 in Zion, Illinois to Rose and Fred Schott. Her siblings included the late Alice DeRossi, the late Margaret Claxon, the late Fred Schott III, and Roberta Butz. In June 1940, Gloria was a member of the first graduating class of Zion-Benton Township High School. On December 8, 1945, Gloria married, her sweetheart, Charles F. Plummer in Zion, Illinois. Gloria was a professional photographer who, along with her husband Chuck, owned The Plummer's Studio in Winthrop Harbor, IL. For many years they took countless wedding pictures and children's portraits. In recent years, she became an author with two published memoirs. Throughout her life, Gloria provided outstanding service in numerous ways to her community, such as Zion Library Literacy Project, Condell Cardiac Rehab Club, and Waukegan Crisis Line. Gloria is best known as a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother, and adoring great grandmother. Her outgoing and loving personality created life time friends from people representing all walks of life. She is survived by her husband, Charles Plummer; two daughters, Joan (Nedra Crow) Sebastian of San Diego, California and Carol (Peter) Trobe of Wadsworth, Illinois; four grandchildren, Kathrine (Bruce Woodard) Sebastian, Lesley Sebastian, Hannah Trobe, and Abbey Trobe; and two great-grandchildren, Ian Charles Sebastian and Eleanor Ruth Sebastian. She is survived by her youngest sister Roberta "Bertie" Butz of California. A memorial service and reception will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 19 at the Victory Lakes Center's Great Room located at 1075 E. Victory Dr., Lindenhurst, IL 60096.
