Obituary of John Purcell

John R. Purcell, 70, of Zion, died on Friday, March 20, 2009 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. John was born December 28, 1938 in Lake Forest, IL. He was a very active member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Zion. John was employed for many years with Civil Service at Great Lakes, IL. He was a member of the Z-B Booster Club, Zion Senior Citizens, was a die-hard Cubs fan, but most of all he was an all around family guy. Survivors include his sister, Marjorie Sorenson of Lake Forest, IL; one niece, Diane Sorenson of Mundelein, IL; and three nephews, Richard L. (Deborah) Sorenson Jr. of Mundelein, IL, Steven (Mary Ann) Sorenson of Grayslake, IL and Raymond (Anna Maria Sottosanto) Sorenson of Lake Forest, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Eunice Purcell. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church, 2935 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL with Pastor Cheryl Esbrook and Rev. Paul Gerardy officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Memorial United Methodist Church have been suggested.
