Obituary of James Lewis
James J. "Skeeter" Lewis, 82, of Somers, WI and formerly of Beach Park, IL, died on Friday, February 6, 2009 at St. Catherine's Hospital in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
He was born December 16, 1926 in Empire, AL and came to Waukegan in 1951. He was a Veteran of World War II having served with the Army in Germany. James retired from Johns-Manville in 1989 after 38 years. He enjoyed country western dancing at Nikko's in Twin Lakes, WI and was an avid car racing enthusiast.
Survivors include one son, Gary (Dianna) Lewis of Kenosha; one daughter, Sue (Rick) Hopkins of Pleasant Prairie; seven grandchildren, Christine, Michael, Jennifer, Alyssa, Gary, Jr., Sara, and Kyle; three great-grandchildren, Shawn, Chase, and Ava; and one brother, Bobby (Betty) Lewis of Seattle, WA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen in 1995; one son, James Michael "Mike" Lewis in 1995; one infant brother, Aldridge; and his parents, Vanus and Verna Lewis.
Visitation will be Monday, February 9, 2009, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 10th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park, Beach Park. Special thanks to the nurses at St. Catherine's Hospital, the staffs of Dr. Bandealy and Dr. Jeranek, and also the Dodd family for their support.
