Obituary of Eleanore Krapf

Eleanore C. Krapf, 99, (nee Benckendorf), of Zion, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Good Samaritan-Scandia Village in Sister Bay, WI. She was born August 10, 1912, and lived all her life on Zion. Both of her parents came to Zion because of the Christian Catholic Church where she remained a life long member. She attended Zion grade schools and graduated from Waukegan High School in the class of 1930. She first worked for Zion Industries in the plumbing department, which is where she met Milburn Krapf, her husband. After the plumbing shop closed, she and Milbum owned and operated Krapf Plumbing and Heating until his death in 1972. She then worked for Bicket Enterprises at Fields Smartwear and lastly Bicket Pharmacy until its closing. Throughout her life, Eleanore met many people and made many friends. Eleanore was a devoted wife and mother and a beloved grandmother. She truly enjoyed waiting on her children and grandchildren on special occasions of which they all have fond memories. Eleanore is survived by three children, Wiley (Roselyn) Krapf of Gills Rock, WI, Sandra Taplin of Troy, IL, and Henry (Susan) Krapf of Beach Park, IL nine grandchildren Elizabeth Zuber of La Mirada, CA, Wiley (Dong) Krapf of Shanghai, China, Rodney (Maria) Taplin of Traverse City, MI, Sally (Eric) Crowe of Johnsburg, IL, Sarah (Dan) Cardinell of Lindenburst, IL, Dru (Tracy) Taplin of Troy, IL, Christoper Krapf of Virginia Beach, VA, Diedrich (Reta) Krapf of Antioch, IL, and Douglas (Jen) Zeman of Round Lake Beach, IL. Also surviving are twenty-one great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milburn; her parents, Neal and Rosa; and her sisters, Lotus Beaver and Lottie Greenfield. Eleanore had a profound effect on everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed by all.
