I don't really have a story, just a comment. When I interviewed Bill for the paper about his being a WW II vet, I strongly felt his gentle soul and countenence and thought he was one of the sweetest people I had ever met. He told me of his days as a WWII bomber co-pilot and how a harrowing experience of being under enemy fire was to no avial to the enemy because the plane came out unscathed, except for a piece of shrapnel he still had in his possession, which he held in his hand for me and smiled. I took a picture of it, and tried to download it for you, but it didn't center and I don't know how to fix it or if there is even that option. At any rate, you can see his sweet face, but out of frame here is his hand displaying the shrapnel. At any rate, his smile and his life were spared and the most important feature is there--him; he who lived through it to be a blessing to all whose path he crossed over the many more years of surviving WW II.

Have many great memories of Uncle Bill. So sad for my Aunt Donna to see him go. Was glad he was able to come out for Labor Day this year. Blessings to my Aunt donna and family.
