Obituary of Sara McKay

Sara Allyson "Cookie" McKay, 56, of Waukegan, IL died on May 12, 2014. She was born August 17, 1957 in Belfast, Northern Ireland and immigrated to the United States in November of 1957 with her family. She graduated from Waukegan Township High School, East Campus, in 1975 where she excelled in sports, mainly softball where she was MVP of her team and also in badminton. After high school she continued with recreational softball and played on various teams in Waukegan. Survivors include siblings William E. (Debi) McKay, Stephen P. (Roberta) McKay, Barbara A. (Bill) Martin, Jane (Bob) Cox, and Charlie (Laura) McKay; nieces and nephews, Megan McKay, Shannon Ursprung, Jaimee McKay, Kyle, April, and Jillian McKay, and Devlin and Ryan McKay; two great-nephews and one great-niece Forrest, Emily, and Connor; and other relatives and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Sarah McKay. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m.
