Obituary of Mary Lokay

Mary J. Lokay, 89, of Beach Park, IL died on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at home. She was born August 31, 1924 in Chicago, IL. She met her future husband Joseph while working in an instrument factory in Chicago after WWII. They married on April 29, 1950 and she devoted her life to being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church of Beach Park and a former member of Church of St. Patrick in Wadsworth where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Survivors include her children Joanne (Jim) Bader of Wildwood, IL, Jeannette Lokay of Colchester, IL, Joseph (Sue) Lokaj of Deerfield, IL, Mary Lokay of Beach Park, IL, Michele Phillips of Flora, IL, and Jean Lokay of Warsaw, MO; seven grandchildren Brent (Carrie), Patrick (Tresca), Eileen (Bruce), Anthony, Christine, Matthew, and John; two great-grandchildren Aden and Mia; and siblings Sam (Pat) Maranto of Plainfield, IL, Vince (Jean) Maranto of Arlington, Heights, IL, and Eleanor Speros of Hoffman Estates, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 2013; one brother Joe London; and her parents Giuseppe and Concetta Maranto. Visitation will be Sunday, May 18, 2014, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, May 19th, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W Wadsworth Road, Beach Park, IL, with visitation at the church from 9:30 until time of service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
