Obituary of Ruth Ahonen-Hakala

Ruth E. Ahonen-Hakala (nee Hautala), 98, of Waukegan, IL passed away peacefully on April 23, 2014 at Terrace Nursing Home in Waukegan. She was born April 20, 1916 in Erwin Township, MI to the late Andrew and Anna Hautala. Ruth is survived by one sister Anna Hill; son Rudolph (Mary Jo) Ahonen; daughter Arlene (and the late Warren) Huhta; step-children John (Dorothy) Hakala, Kathleen (Carl) Vaara, and Sandra (Dick) Juntilla; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; twenty-one great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husbands Bruno Hjalmer Ahonen and John Hakala; brothers Waino, Verner, and Norman; and sisters Nelda and Mildred. A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014, from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. Memorial contributions may be made out to St. Mark's Evangelical Church, Waukegan, IL in her memory.
