Obituary of Joel Mitchen

Joel Ramon Mitchen, 72, of Deerfield Beach, FL, died Sunday, March 30, 2014. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Carthage College and his Master's and Doctorate from Purdue University. He dedicated his life to scientific research, developing over 30 patents and publishing numerous articles in scientific journals. In the later years of his life, he worked as a consultant for other researchers. He will be missed by family and friends. He was born March 25, 1942 to Joseph and Dorothy Mitchen. Survivors include his two brothers Laurence (Marcia) Mitchen of Gurnee, IL and Jacque (Joan) Mitchen of Monona, WI. In addition he is survived by eight nieces and nephews as well as 9 great nieces and nephews. There will be no formal services. In support of life, he wanted his body donated to advance medicine through Science Care, a whole body donor program. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
