Obituary of Jane Pokett

Jane Ellen Pokett, 56, of Beach Park, IL, formerly of Waukegan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Vista Medical Center East, Waukegan, IL. Jane was born July 31, 1957, in Waukegan, and graduated from Waukegan High School in 1975. In 2012 she retired from the Lake County Health Department where she touched many people in a positive way. Jane had a generous spirit and loved the Lord with all her heart. She was the life of the party with her contagious laughter. Jane was a passionate and devoted pet owner and throughout her lifetime had a special connection to her animal family which includes birds, cats, and dogs. Jane is survived by her sisters, Sandra Pokett of Waukegan, IL, and Christine (Brian) Whittier of Winthrop Harbor, IL; brother, Richard (Lisa) Pokett of Burlington, WI; nieces, Cynthia (Matthew) Van Den Broeke, Robin Whittier, and Alison (Scott) Dever; and grand-niece, Rebekah Van Den Broeke. Jane is preceded in death by a brother, Russell Pokett Jr., and her parents, Russell and Betty Pokett Sr. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, IL. A Funeral Service will held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. David Eikenberry of First Presbyterian Church of Waukegan, officiating. Interment is private for the family. Memorial donations are suggested to Jane's two favorite charities, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and World Vision.
