Obituary of Dean Boswell

Dean L. Boswell, 77, of Winthrop Harbor, died of a pulmonary embolism on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Midwestern Regional Medical Center. Dean was born April 11, 1931 in Chariton, Iowa. He belonged to the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #150 in Lake County. He was also a member of Zion-Benton Moose Lodge #667. Dean was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. Survivors include his wife, Betty; three daughters, Patricia (Joe) Bakanec of Winthrop Harbor, Karen (Jerry) Hammock of Winthrop Harbor and Cindy (Dan) Traska of Spring Grove, Illinois; six grandchildren, Timothy Taylor, Kristal Bakanec, Aaron Hammock, Justyn Hammock, Isabella Traska and Gabriella Traska; two great-grandchildren, Austyn Hammock and Addison Hammock; his former grand-daughter-in-law, Cheri Hammock; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn, in 2006; and his parents, Wallace and Hazel Boswell. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with Pastor John Davis of Lakeside Community Church of Zion officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 1st, from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to American Lung Association, 1440 Washington Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607 have been suggested.
