Obituary of Bernice Krapf

Bernice (nee Kerr) Krapf, 89, of Beach Park, IL went to be with her Lord January 24, 2014. Bernice was born September 11, 1924 in Zion IL, and was a life long resident of Lake County. She graduated from Zion-Benton High School May of 1942, married the love of her life, Leburn, in November 1942, and spent 61 wonderful years together. Bernice was a member of Christ Community Church, formerly Christian Catholic Church and worked within the Zion School District for 18 years as a teacher's aide. Her main interests were her family, making a comfortable home for them and working with her flowers. She enjoyed cooking, often baking pies and shortbread for relatives and friends. She also enjoyed the outdoors, camping at many State Parks within the Great Lakes Region. In later years this often included taking the grandchildren on trips to Northern WI, MI and Canada. They enjoyed drives looking for deer and going to the ice cream shop in St. Germain together. She will be remembered for her kind and loving personality by the people who loved her. Survivors include her children, Cathy (Mark) Viquerat, and Tom (Julie) Krapf; 3 beloved grandchildren, Kelly Krapf, Amanda (Jason) Weiker, and Douglas Krapf; sister-in-laws Carol (Miguel) Kerr-Sanchez and Elaine Hough; brother-in-law Vernon Krapf; and many cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leburn; parents, Robert and Rebecca Kerr; brother, Kenneth Kerr; and other dear family members. Visitation will be held Friday, January 31, 2014 from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. with a service to follow at 11:30 a.m. at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. Interment will follow at Mt.
