Obituary of Lena Schroeder

Lena Schroeder, 85, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, formerly of Zion, IL, and Kenosha, WI, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at home surrounded by her family. Lena was born March 9, 1923, in Kenosha, WI, and married Donald Schroeder on October 4, 1947, in Kenosha. She was a founding member of Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park. Lena was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed knitting and baking and was a gracious hostess of family gatherings. Lena also was a fun loving woman who loved to spoil her grandchildren, and always shared loving advice. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Donald Schroeder; children, Donna (Norman) Franke of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Jan Zurcher of Kenosha, WI, Gary (Ann Marie Schroeder of Wheaton, IL and Diane (Jerry) Walleck of La Grange Park, IL; grandchildren, Derek, Stephanie, Laura, Melissa, Ryan, Kristin, Katie, Kurt, Craig, Marlee, Donald, Hailey, Jeremy, and Hannah; two brothers; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald Schroeder Jr. in 1985; and sister, Mary Walker. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park, IL. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Pleasant Prairie, WI. Visitation will be Friday, March 28, 2008, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL.
