Obituary of Susan Osborn

Susan Anne Osborn was born 19 August 1950 in Marshfield, WI to Dortha (Williams) and Ferris Osborn. She was the youngest of 8 children, Gerhardt, Richard, Roy (Andy), Dortha Osborn, Myra Reed, Alberta Forst and Reva Mitchell. She passed on Saturday December 21, 2013 after a 10 month battle with cancer. Susan attended grade school in Marshfield, WI. The family moved to Zion, IL, where her father worked as a professional engineer and her mother taught multiple subjects at Zion Benton Township High School. Susan served in various positions at Streeter Amet in Grayslake for many years. Then she moved to food service sales, where she worked for Groen and then Keating Products as an International Sales Manager. She retired from M&L Flooring, located in Wauconda, earlier this year. Susan served as vice president of the Lake Villa/Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce and chaired a Women in Business group. She was a member of The Chapel in Grayslake. She was also a member of Grace Chapel Presbyterian Church in Madison, MS, where she participated in church outreach programs. Susan is survived by her husband, Jan Bairstow, step-children, Shawn and Tina (Leoni) Bairstow, Christopher Bairstow and her two grandchildren, William and Hanna Bairstow. She is also survived by her first husband, Garvin Smith and her daughter Tabetha Smith and son, Terry Smith. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 4, 2013 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
