I started dancing with the Dan/Jan team 8 years ago. We had such fun at the Sundance Saloon with the lessons, the laughter. Jan was personable and fun and a self admitted fanatic about her Barbie dolls!
She is greatly missed.

Dear family of Jan...I just received this devastating news. I've known Jan from Barbie Con and I cherished her sweet friendship. Dan, you will continue to be in my heart and prayers as Jan was just so precious. May she rest in peace and may you all find some comfort in knowing how how much joy she brought to others lives. God Bless!

In my teens I worked with Jan at the Richard Able Book Co.
Where we quickly became friends. Jan and Dan were newlyweds. She was living the life I longed for. Our work became play as we were always laughing. Our boss continually reprimanded us, to no avail. One day we talked our department into meeting near the bosses house, TP in hand. Stifling our giggles we proceeded to do a bang up job TPing his house.
Arriving at work (early) the next day, we were hard at work when the boss strode in, heading straight to our department.
No one even looked up as he stood glaring at us all. The next week I was moved to a different department. They could separate us but our friendship remained. She was one of a kind. My heart aches for your family.

Jim and family: So sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I loved spending time with your family when we were growing up. Your mom and dad both had infectious laughs and it was obvious how much they both loved you all. I always felt welcome and enjoyed doing stuff together. My best fishing stories are still from sleeping over at your house and getting up to catch salmon by the nuclear reactor and then driving down Sheridan Rd on our bikes with giant tails sticking out of our bucket. : ) Your mom was a sweet, sweet lady who radiated joy. May the Lord bring you peace and comfort through the presence of his Spirit. -Chris

Jim and family, We are so sorry for your loss. Jan was a wonderful woman. Our family first met Jan and Lynne in 1982 when our Jenny joined the Beach Park softball league. We have nothing but fond memories of the Lady Bugs team. Jan was a wonderful coach (along with Lynne) and leader. Every time I saw her over the years she would always ask about our family. She will be dearly missed. Betty Dietz

Jan became one of the people I looked forward to getting together with every year at convention! She was so cheerful and full of spirit all of the time! Our friendship began when she was hostess at our table many years ago. Since then we have sat with Jan and her family many times. It became the one thing we looked forward to when we would arrive at the !hotel. Jan will always be in our memories as one of the nicest people you could meet. A true Barbie Collecting Friend! Jan and Dan came to our dance class in Zion more than 15 years ago. We urged them to join our class in Greyslake. As part of the class we had a field trip to the Sundance Saloon. Dan refused to go to a bar no matter how much Jan urged him. Because thay did not go on the field trip I gave them a failing grade in the class.
The next semester they went on the field trip. After that Jan could not keep Dan at home.
On the first Monday of every moth they did not teach in Kenosha. We had dinner with them that day for years. WE moved to Florida 3 months ago. We taught that the only empty chairs at the Monday night dinner would be ours, but sadly enough Jan's will be permantly empty. She was a great lady and we will miss our friend.

Janice and Sandy B. welcomed me into their friendship when I moved into their Zion neighborhood 54 years ago. Well, maybe I forced myself into the group because they were just too much fun to pass up! What exciting and adventurous times! What a trio! I remember her meeting Dan at the community swimming pool and thinking he was going to be a rival in getting her attention. ;-) what a lovely couple indeed!
Our periodic reunions over all these years have been packed with just as much excitement, laughter and love! I will cherish the memories forever! Jan loves Florida and Disney as much as I and added that to our bond.
What a beautiful woman who has been an impact on all she met, and especially on those she loved! What a honor to have such a person be your friend! I love you forever and will miss you always! Sending love and prayers to Dan and the children.

I have no words. I am so terribly sorry for your loss of this beautiful woman. I was 15 years old when I met Jan. She and Dan opened their hearts to me at a very hard time in my life. While no one really knew it at the time, I had been struggling with self-worth issues and spiraling into depression. That's when we walked in to the American Legion in Kenosha. Jan's light, love, spirit and humor were immediately noticeable and infectious. It was through she and Dan that I finally found something that I was good at, something I could be proud of and something really enjoyed - dancing. They encouraged my passion and Jan even gave me my favorite pair of cowboy boots. They had once been hers, and it didn't matter that they were a size and a half too small. I stuffed my feet into those suckers and wore them every day, because they were hers. I still wear them 12 years later (luckily my feet haven't grown much). In my time with her, Jan quickly inspired me to love the life I was given, to always think of others before myself and to become a better, stronger person. I said earlier that I had no words...that is because there will never be enough words for me to describe what she means to me, or how special she is. My thoughts and prayers are with all who love her. May she rest in peace.

Jan and I met in kindergarten. We were little talkers, and not nap takers. We were never placed in the same class again. We were as tough as the boys and made them let us play. Outside of school we were inseperatable. Once I ice skated down the alley to her house, on a snow day. My heart is torn in half. Love you so much!!!
