Obituary of Edward Grigas

Edward Francis Grigas, 80, of Zion, Illinois passed peacefully at home Saturday, March 1, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born October 16, 1927, Edward grew up in Boston, MA. He served 30 years in the US Navy, 22 years of active service (from 1944-1966) as a seaplane aircraft mechanic. He later was employed by Cheshire (Xerox) Corporation in Mundelein as a machinist. He retired in 1988. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary of Zion, IL; three children, Michael of Zion, Stephen (Denise) of Hammond, LA and Donna of Antioch, IL. He is survived by brother, Robert (Priscilla) Grigas of Rockland, MA. He had five grandchildren, Brent and Rebecca Lane Grigas of Hammond, LA, Richard and Nicholas Sedar of Antioch, IL and Jacklyn Sedar of Madison, WI. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Veronica; brothers, Frank and Joseph; and sister, Florence Knox. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 6 at 3:00 pm at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion with Pastor Ken Langley of Christ Community Church of Zion, officiating. entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Friends may greet the family on Thursday from 2:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
