Obituary of Shirley McCleary

Shirley McCleary, 79, of Richland Center, WI, died on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Pine Valley Healthcare. She was born in Chicago on February 20, 1934 the daughter of Lester and Evelyn (Kreuzer) Streich. Following her graduation from high school, Shirley worked for Illinois Bell. She later worked for her parents at Streich's Flower Shop in Zion and later retired from working at the City of Zion. Community involvement included 4-H involvement, serving as secretary/treasurer of Zion United Methodist Church, and membership with the Women of the Moose. When she and Harry moved to Sylvan Township in Richland County, WI, they joined the Boaz United Methodist Church. Survivors include her children JoAnn Krulatz of Bloom City, WI, Jerry (Sue) McCleary of Zion, IL, and Tim (Amy) McCleary of Winthrop Harbor, IL; nine grandchildren Christina (Christopher) Doughman, Ellen (Dan) Marenda, Martin (Abi) Krulatz, Heather Krulatz, Cathy Krulatz, Malcom McCleary, Jake McCleary, Molly McCleary, and Kate McCleary; eleven great-grandchildren Linnea, Sofia, Maia, Seth and Vera Doughman, Dorothy, Elleanor, Creed, and Beatrice Krulatz, and Lillian and Madelyn Marenda; her brother Wallace "Wally" (Lois) Streich of Zion, IL; brother-in-law Willie (Joyce) McCleary of Zion, IL; two sisters-in-law Margaret Culley of Zion, IL and Pat Gilbert of Winthrop Harbor, IL; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harry on July 5, 2013, and her nephew Jim Streich. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the Boaz United Methodist Church. Friends may call at the Boaz United Methodist Church of Friday, October 25, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL with burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Friends may call at the Congdon Funeral Home on Monday, October 28, 2013 from 2:00 until time of service at 4:00 p.m. The family suggests memorials in Shirley's name be directed to the Boaz United Methodist Church. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service in Richland Center, WI and the Congdon Funeral Home in Zion, IL is assisting with arrangements.
