Obituary of Ruby Tyra

Ruby E. Tyra, 78, of Winthrop Harbor, IL died on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at home. Ruby was born February 23, 1935 in Vina, AL. She married OraLee Tyra of Vina in 1952 and together they both moved to Winthrop Harbor to work at American Motors in Kenosha, WI where she retired in 2002. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor. Survivors include her grandson Quincy Tyra of Winthrop Harbor, IL; one brother Grady (Mary) Pharr of Hodges, AL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband OraLee in 2010; infant son Douglas Lee Tyra; one son Gregory Tyra; and her parents Willie and Luria Pharr. Visitation will Tuesday, October 15, 2013, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home with Dr. Michael Brown officiating. Cemetery services will be held on Wednesday, October 16th, at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in the Chapel.
