Obituary of James Tentes

Tentes, James P. 88, of Waukegan, IL, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013 peacefully at his home. He was born February 5, 1925 in Waukegan, IL, he is preceded in death by parents Peter and Mae (nee Karry), and brother George. James attended Waukegan High School. He served in the US Army, and worked as a Union Pipefitter (Local 597). James also owned Tentes Heating Company and Janis Cleanerama. He married Betty (nee Fliftcroft) on March 16, 1946 in Waukegan. He was a member of Waukegan's St. Mark's Lutheran Church. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He sang and toured with the Sibelius Choir of Chicago and sang with several other choirs as well. James enjoyed being a member of several local bowling leagues, was passionate about fishing and hunting at his cabin in Watersmeet, Michigan. James enjoyed several years of worldwide travel with his travel agent wife Betty. James was a founding member of the Waukegan Historical Society. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Betty; brothers Tony, Charles, and sister Elaine, children, Philip (Rosemary), Edward (Judith), and Thomas; 6 grandchildren; Korey, Ryan, Aimee (Steve), Jacqueline (Tim), Peter, and Patrick, 1 great-grandchild Piper Charlotte; many nieces and nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 12th at St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3350 North Delany Road Waukegan, IL at 9-10:30a.m; funereal services immediately following visitation.
