Obituary of Betty Comerford

Betty M. Comerford, 82, of Beach Park, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2013, at her home surrounded by family. Betty was born June 25, 1931, in Waukegan, IL, and graduated from Waukegan High School in 1948. She married her late husband Gene Comerford on April 6, 1957, in Angola, IN. Betty was a member of New Song Church in Zion. She retired after 32 years employment as a civil service worker at the Great Lakes Naval Base Comptroller's Office. Betty was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and was happiest in a busy house full of family. Her strength, quick wit, and infectious "laughter-to-tears" will be greatly missed. She was the heart of our family-a true model of honesty, generosity, and faith. Survivors include her children, Mike (Amy) Comerford of Castle Rock, CO, Karen (Ron) Gardella of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Patrick (Vicki) Comerford of Lake Geneva, WI, Sue (David) Geer of Wadsworth, IL, Greg (Nichole) Comerford of Kenosha, WI, Robin Comerford of Lake Forest, IL, Teri (Keith Janicki) Comerford of Beach Park, IL, Debbie (Jon) Jasnoch of Wildwood, IL, and Doug (Vicki) Comerford of Grayslake, IL; 25 grand children; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Christensen of Marion, IN; brothers-in-law, Maurice (Pat) Comerford of Statesville, N.C. and Duane (JoAnn) Comerford of Saginaw, MI; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene; brother, Butch Christensen; father and mother, Fredrick and Dorothy Christensen; and brother-in-law, Danny Comerford. Visitation will be Friday, August 16, 2013,from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, and again on Saturday, August 17, 2013, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. with a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at Meadow Ridge Baptist Church, 4500 Rte 173, Zion, IL.
