Obituary of Elaine Bennett

Elaine C. Bennett, 85, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, died on August 10, 2013, at home. Elaine was born August 1, 1928, in Waukegan, IL, and graduated from Warren Township High School in 1946. She married her late husband, David Bennett on January 9, 1947, in Valparaiso, IN. Elaine was an active member of North Prairie United Methodist Church in Winthrop Harbor. She and David formerly owned and operated Golden Sands Campground in Iron River, MI. Survivors include her children, Diane S. (Allan) Klabunde of Zion, IL, David (Manda Hadzizsic) of Round Lake, IL, Donald (Beverly) Bennett of Wadsworth, IL, Dean Bennett of East Troy, WI, Duane (Anita) Bennett of Watertown, WI, and Dawn (James) Knapp of Kenosha, WI; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor (Robert) Congdon of East Troy, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews and other family.. She was preceded in death by her husband, David in 1997; and her father and mother, Claire and Hazel Gleason. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 19, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at North Prairie United Methodist Church, 5000 9th Ave., Winthrop Harbor, with Rev. Kwang Lim, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heifer International would be appreciated.
