Obituary of Michael Murtha

Michael D. "Mike" Murtha, born February 5, 1940, a native of Waukegan, IL, and graduate of Waukegan Township High School in 1959, Mike died Monday, July 22, 2013, at Hospice Alliance House in Pleasant Prairie, WI. A longtime pressman, Mike worked for several printing companies including National Press, BAT, and James W. Smith. After retiring as a pressman, Mike joined Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Lake County as a staff aid, which he retired from in December of 2011. Fishing was his love and relaxation. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was known to kick back the rug and dance too! He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen (Gene) Decker of Beach Park, IL, and Mary Kay (Craig) Phillips of Pleasant Prairie, WI; his 3 sisters, Diane (John) Zickus, Barb Stice, both of Waukegan, IL, and Linda Sack of Crestview, FL; a brother, Dennis (Judy) Murtha of Winthrop Harbor, IL; 3 grandchildren, Joseph, Kurtis, and Chase; and devoted sweetheart, Joan of Waukegan. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dennis and Helen Murtha. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 27,2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
