Obituary of Harry McCleary

Harry A. McCleary, 84, of Richland Center formerly of Zion, Illinois died Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Richland Hospital. He was born July 18, 1928 in Zion, Illinois the son of William John and Christina (Malcolm) McCleary. Harry served in the U.S. Army and Navy from 1948 until 1952. On July 30, 1955 Harry married Shirley Streich in Waukegan, Illinois. He worked at OMC as a truck driver until his retirement in 1983. In 1988 Harry and Shirley moved to Sylvan Township, Wisconsin. Harry was a life member at the Zion Benton Moose Lodge, and a member of the Boaz United Methodist Church. Harry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley; three children, Jo Ann Krulatz of Bloom City, WI, Jerry (Sue) McCleary of Zion, IL, Tim (Amy) McCleary of Winthrop Harbor, IL; nine grandchildren, Christina (Christopher) Doughman, Ellen (Dan) Marenda, Martin (Abi) Krulatz, Heather Krulatz, Cathy Krulatz, Malcolm McCleary, Jake McCleary, Molly McCleary, Kate McCleary; eleven great-grandchildren, Linnea, Sofia, Maia, Seth, Vera Doughman, Dorothy, Elleanor, Creed, Beatrice Krulatz, Lillian, Madelyn Marenda; brother, Willie (Joyce) McCleary of Zion, IL; two sisters, Margaret Culley of Zion, IL, Pat Gilbert of Winthrop Harbor, IL; brother-in-law, Wally (Lois) Streich of Zion, IL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Christine Mihaljevic, Jean Hoyt. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Boaz United Methodist Church. Friends may call at the Boaz United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Congdon Funeral Home, in Zion, Illinois with burial to follow in the Mount Olivet Cemetery in Zion, Illinois. Friends may call at the Congdon Funeral Home on Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM.
