Obituary of Wanda Frank

Wanda L. Frank, (nee, Woodcox) 83, of Waukegan, IL, formerly of Novi, MI; passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on June 10, 1929, in Detroit, MI, to Vernon and Alma May Woodcox. Wanda was diagnosed with cancer in 2010. She kept her faith, humor and cheerful outlook through her treatments, hospitalizations and pain. Wanda was known as "Lee" to her friends at Community Christian Church in Waukegan, where she attended on a regular basis. Quite the traveler, she had taken several cruises and toured from Europe to Hawaii. She worked at the Ypsilanti Press for many years and was 45 years old before she learned to drive and get her drivers' license. After she retired from the Press she volunteered at Kenwood Church of Christ in Livonia Michigan working in the office and cooking for special occasions. She loved to read and was an avid Detroit fan, especially the Tigers. Just this year she received a thank you note and memorabilia from the Tigers front office. Some of her favorite hobbies were scrap booking and her grand children. Survivors include 5 children, Bob (Cheryl) Frank, Bill Frank(Gail Stevenson), Toni (Rick) Wojcik, Dan (Debbie) Frank, and Lisa (Gary) Edwards. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren , and her sister, Betty. Wanda was preceded in death by a son, David Frank; brothers, Lloyd and Bill Woodcox; and her parents. Visitation will be Sunday, June 9, 2013, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013, at 11:00 a.m at the funeral home. Interment is private for the family. Memorial donations are suggested to Star Hospice.
