Obituary of Ned Pierce

Ned Pierce, 89, of Wadsworth, IL, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. He was born August 15, 1923, in Vienna, IL. He was the son of Frank and Gertrude Pierce. Ned proudly served in the United States Army in the Normandy Invasion of World War II. He was retired from Abbott Laboratories. He was a devoted husband and father and a dedicated member of Immanuel Church in Gurnee, IL. He is survived by his son, Ronald (Karen) Pierce of Grayslake, IL, and a grandson, Christopher Pierce of Mascoutah, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (whom he married on March 28, 1946); his parents; and by six siblings, Don, Vernell, Glorine, Lois, Ford, and Clarence. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 29, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Interment with military honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville, IL. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
