Obituary of Shirley Hoeksema

Shirley J. Hoeksema, 77, of Beach Park, Illinois, died on Friday, January 11, 2008 at Condell Hospital in Libertyville. She was born March 3, 1930 in Kenosha and lived in Lake County most of her life. She was self employed for many years at Hoeksema's Mini Mart and later retired in 1995 from the Lake County Circuit Court Clerk's office. She enjoyed fishing and was an avid bowler having belonged to an area league. "Nana" is survived by her two children, Robin (Mike) Ruchti of Winthrop Harbor and Shawn (Lori) Hoeksema of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Kristen Ruchti, Amanda Ruchti, Derek Hoeksema, Alyssa Hoeksema, Craig Hoeksema, Ryan (Sarah) Maclagan and Megan Maclagan; one great-granddaughter, Katie Rae Maclagan; siblings, Harold (Lou) Schroeder of Florida, Sharon (Ted) Rowe of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jane Becker of Salem, Wisconsin, Janice (Helmut) Lacas of Missouri and Diane (Warren) Lichtardt of Paddock Lake, Wisconsin; and her former husband, Robert E. Hoeksema of Aliso Viejo, California. She was preceded in death by brothers, Jack, Eddie, Don and Orville; best friend, Mel Hadaway; parents, Everett and Alneta Schroeder; and her beloved dog, "Sassy". A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Jonathan White officiating.
