Obituary of Claude McDermott
Claude D. McDermott Sr.
Claude D. McDermott Sr., 89, of Zion, formerly of Libertyville, died on Wednesday, October 23, 2007 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.
Claude was born November 23, 1917 in Chicago. He served as Vice President for Olympic Commisary Company, headquartered in Chicago, and lived in various locations across the United States due to traveling for work, settling in Libertyville in 1950. While in Libertyville he was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and for many years was Harbor Master for the Winnetka Park District. For a hobby he enjoyed racing homing pigeons and he was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his son Claude D. (Kathleen Kramer, and her two sons Michael and Kevin, all of Winthrop Harbor) McDermott Jr. of Zion; two nieces Barbara McDermott of Kentucky and Mary Reeds of Oregon; and one nephew James Reeds of Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; his parents James and Maud McDermott; and six siblings.
Cemetery services were held on Friday, October 26, 2007, at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville. The CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, served the family.
